Yes, I’m hoping this will be the next gen Ecosport here

Ford Juke?

That thing is NOT a Puma :(
THIS is a Puma:

Add some ugly plastic cladding and that would fly off the lot here

Transit Connect ST please and thank you. They could have been equipped with the FiST engine for a few years. So there’s your engine. Bonus points if the FoST is used. Just needs a small tune of the powerplant, suspension, and throw a stick in that center console.

Just change the body colored flares to textured black plastic and voilà
![]() 09/24/2020 at 09:45 |

I’d even settle for the Focus Active replacing the wretched Ecopsort.

Cars?

Yep!

The tarmac rally version was so awesome.
I’d be ordering one of those if they came over here. Get rid of the roller skate called the EcoSport and go against the Mazda CX-3/CX-30 with this.
![]() 09/24/2020 at 10:32 |

It’s a crossover already though. The green one is the ‘sporty’ version, with painted cladding.

Whats this? I like the looks of it whatever it is.

Named after this:
Looks like this:

The manual is not a problem. Here is a screen shot of the (German) Ford website itself, where they market the Transit Connect. Note the stick.

Maybe the estate one.

There was a Tarmac rally version of the new Puma...?

Ford has a real Subaru Outback competitor on its hands and it is just sitting on it. With the right advertising that could sell big.
![]() 09/24/2020 at 11:08 |

Buick already proved that the market can’t (or doesn’t want to) bear it.
![]() 09/24/2020 at 11:36 |

I know it’s already a crossover, but over here it needs to LOOK more like it to really sell. It needs to look like it was styled by Tonka
![]() 09/24/2020 at 11:54 |

Even more of a reason to make it! DO IT FORD YOU COWARDS
![]() 09/24/2020 at 12:07 |

On the contrary, the TourX was a typical GM blunder in that it was a great car that they didn’t bother to advertise. Imagine the Focus Active with a good ad campaign about rugged lifestyles and kayaking and mountain biking and other Subaru things.
![]() 09/24/2020 at 12:36 |

Ford would rather sell them a base bronco sport
![]() 09/24/2020 at 12:38 |

The way I see it, these are closer to direct competitors.
And these could compete nicely. I believe there is enough market for both of these to survive.

He means the old Puma, it was a much loved club level rally car.
That said, the new Puma is slated to be Ford's next car for the WRC
![]() 09/24/2020 at 13:48 |
|
Yes, I knew the old one was a cool rally car.....not sure how I feel with crossovers becoming WRC cars......they’re not really WRC ‘cars’... :(
I’m not a fan of NASCAR, but you know there’d be an uproar if they started racing the Chevrolet Trax vs. Ford Ecosports.....
![]() 09/24/2020 at 13:53 |
|
That’s so much better than the awful EcoSport
![]() 09/24/2020 at 15:18 |

But the Focus wagon is miniature! It’d be a Golf Alltrack competitor at best, the Outback is just the cheap version of the V90 XC/E-Class All-Terrain/Audi Allroad . Incidentally, that’s probably why it sells so well since it’s the only full-size but mainstream (i.e. non-luxe) crossover wagon.
![]() 09/24/2020 at 15:44 |

Oh believe me, I've had several nice long rants about the WRC going to crossovers and tube frames
![]() 09/24/2020 at 16:59 |

The tourx was partial to meet certain trade and European union contract requirements. Also hampered by adding every option making it a Buick and not 25chevy Subaru competitor.
![]() 09/24/2020 at 17:05 |

Oh I love the TourX. I worked at a GMC/Buick dealership and sold them. People in the know love them too. Great cars. Sadly they have a pretty narrow appeal in today’s market.
![]() 09/24/2020 at 17:46 |
|
You know, that's a good point. A true competitor would be more like a Fusion/Mondeo wagon Active.
![]() 09/24/2020 at 17:47 |
|
WAIT, what??? They’ll just be tube frames with original-style skin over the top, kindof like NASCAR....? WTF.....how did I know hear that blasphemy was happening :S
Are they at least still going to be road legal to drive from sta
ge to stage...?
![]() 09/24/2020 at 17:47 |

The venn diagram between people who owned TSX Sportwagons and TourXs probably suggests a strong correlation.
![]() 09/24/2020 at 20:32 |

Given the amount I drive, the premium fuel and AWD mpg hit were the killer. Similar issue with an outback. Really wanted a wagon wi th roof rails.
kinda indifferent with awd. I have a hard time buying a VW and tepid given the number of subaru oil issues from people I know. sucks, its on the same platform as the malibu
![]() 09/25/2020 at 06:17 |

At least a NASCAR EcoSport would have some guts and a proper gearbox.
![]() 09/25/2020 at 06:17 |

When did WRC go tube frame? I honestly haven’t really been paying attention to WRC the last couple years.

See below.

The EcoSport is way smaller than the Focus Active (which they should have brought here to NA...along with the new Fiesta and Focus STs).
![]() 09/25/2020 at 06:29 |
|
They all blunder cars with that had potential. Here are some of the FoMoCo missed opportunities .
Fusion Sport - This could have been a Fusion ST. Slap a 6 speed manual and see more than the zero point zero percent sales figures it saw when alive. As an aside, an uncorked v6 sounded like garbage when the neighbor had one and would drive by “ripping” up the street.
Escape ST - Cobble together some Focus ST & RS bits for a sporty crossover more worthy of the ST badge than the Edge or Explorer (although I am liking the Explorer ST more and more since I’m middle aged, fat and think I have money to waste on a 50k vehicle)
![]() 09/25/2020 at 06:40 |

Ye’, the EcoSport is more Fiesta/Fiesta Active
No t sure if there is a new Eco Sport coming out but the Puma looks to be a replacement.
while the Kuga/Escape is more Focus/Focus Active.
![]() 09/25/2020 at 07:16 |

It’s going to start with the 2022 ruleset
![]() 09/25/2020 at 07:19 |

They’ll still be road legal for driving transit sections (somehow). I guess the justification is that tube frames will keep the budget down and make it easier to install the hybrid powertrains they’re switching to in 2022, as well as allow more manufacturers to enter as they’ll be allowed to scale down the proportions of their selected
road car, but it’s still blasphemy to me.

This makes me incredibly sad :(
